Progress, progress and more progress!  As can be seen by the images below, the flight cage is nearing completion.  After mesh is attached to all of the structural pieces, the openable roof will be added.  This is great news, as we recently received a second confiscated great green macaw.  This one was very sick and refused to eat anything but cooked wild almond (Almendro) fruit seeds.  By the time it has recovered sufficiently, it should be able to join our other great green macaw in the new spacious cage.  Next month Heike Andreas, a board member of the Frankfurt, Germany based NGO Tropica Verde, will be returning to the project to volunteer for a month.  She had previously spent time volunteering there in March, just prior to my visit.  We look forward to more of her hard work and insight. Thanks to all of Alex's hard work and the generous donors and volunteers who have pitched in for this project, we have more and more information to report here; before too long I should be updating weekly.

Pura vida,
